The Hidden Treasures — งานหัตถกรรมร่วมสมัยที่ซ่อนเรื่องราวไว้ภายใน
ในงาน Chiang Mai Design Week 2024 pharata ได้นำผลงานชุด “The Hidden Treasures” ไปร่วมจัดแสดง โดยเป็นคอลเลกชันที่ตีความงาน ตอกลายหนังไทย ในมุมมองใหม่ เพื่อสะท้อนคุณค่าของงานหัตถกรรมผ่านภาษาการออกแบบร่วมสมัย
ผลงานชุดนี้เริ่มต้นจากแนวคิดเรื่อง “การอนุรักษ์–สืบทอด–ส่งต่อ” ภูมิปัญญาช่างสลักหนังไทย ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในช่างสิบหมู่ ลวดลายต่าง ๆ ได้แรงบันดาลใจจาก วงจรชีวิตของแมลง—สัญลักษณ์ของการเติบโต การเปลี่ยนแปลง และพลังชีวิตที่หมุนเวียนไม่สิ้นสุด pharata นำแรงบันดาลใจเหล่านี้มาถ่ายทอดใหม่ ให้เกิดการเชื่อมโยงกับผู้คนรุ่นปัจจุบัน ผลงาน “The Hidden Treasures” ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงเครื่องประดับ แต่เปรียบเสมือน “สมบัติที่ซ่อนอยู่” — คือมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่บรรจุเรื่องราวของช่างฝีมือไทย และรอให้ผู้ชมค้นพบผ่านมิติใหม่ของการออกแบบร่วมสมัย
กระบวนการสร้างสรรค์
คอลเลกชันนี้ใช้เทคนิค ตอกฉลุหนังแบบดั้งเดิม ผสานกับวัสดุร่วมสมัย เช่น หนังวัวแข็ง (แบบเดียวกับที่ใช้ทำหนังตะลุง), หนังแท้ และฮาร์ดแวร์คุณภาพสูง ทุกขั้นตอนผลิตด้วยความประณีต เพื่อให้ลวดลายมีมิติและความคมชัด สื่อถึงทั้งความเปราะบางและความแข็งแรงของธรรมชาติในเวลาเดียวกัน
การเลือกใช้ “ผีเสื้อ” และ “ด้วง” เป็นสัญลักษณ์สำคัญ สื่อถึงการเกิดใหม่และวิวัฒนาการ ขณะที่โทนสีทองและสีสดใสสะท้อนความรุ่งเรืองของวัฒนธรรมเอเชีย พร้อมทั้งเชื่อมโยงกับจิตวิญญาณงานคราฟต์ไทยในแบบของ pharata ผลงานชุดนี้ออกแบบโดย ภรฏา ศรีอ่อนหล้า และผลิตโดยช่างฝีมือทายาทศิลปหัตถกรรม ปี 2560 จาก SACIT ภายใต้กระบวนการทำงานที่ให้คุณค่าแก่ฝีมือ ความละเอียด และรากวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยของไทยอย่างแท้จริง
Pharata at Chiang Mai Design Week 2024 — “The Hidden Treasures”
Pharata was selected to showcase “The Hidden Treasures” at Chiang Mai Design Week 2024, presenting a contemporary reinterpretation of Thailand’s traditional leather–punching craftsmanship. The collection reflects the preservation and evolution of cultural heritage through modern design.
Concept
The Hidden Treasures highlights the value of intangible heritage—skills passed down through generations of Thai leather-carving artisans. Instead of precious gemstones, each necklace becomes a “treasure” in itself: a vessel of stories, cultural memory, and the maker’s intention. The designs draw inspiration from the life cycles of insects, symbolizing transformation, resilience, and the beauty found in nature’s hidden layers.
Creation Process
The development began with observing natural forms and insect metamorphosis, which were translated into intricate patterns. These motifs were then crafted using traditional hand-punching techniques on thick cowhide—the same material used in Southern Thai shadow-puppet making—combined with genuine leather and contemporary elements.
Butterflies and beetles were chosen as central symbols of rebirth and evolution, while gold accents and vivid tones echo the richness of Asian cultural aesthetics. Each piece is meticulously handmade, produced in collaboration with a master leather artisan recognized as a SACIT Crafts Heir (2017), ensuring both artistic integrity and cultural continuity.
Through this exhibition, Pharata shared a vision of blending nature, culture, and craft into wearable art—bringing Thai heritage into a new dialogue with a global audience.
